FORMER Westlife star Brian McFadden made a guest appearance at Hartlepool’s Mecca bingo on Saturday for a special performance followed by a meet and greet.
The bingo crowd welcomed the Irish star with cheers despite him being more than an hour late.
He was certainly worth the wait for fans – some of whom had queued from 5pm to see the 34-year-old singer songwriter – as they got the chance to pose with him for pictures and get a personalised autograph.
Lucy Hatch, 27, a youth worker at the Belle Vue Centre, was delighted to meet Brian, who signed the sleeve of her first ever Westlife album.
She said: “I’ve waited 16 years to meet him and now I have, I feel like I’m flying without wings!”
Fans lapped up his short performance which included Real To Me, a song from his first solo album, Irish Son, and former Westlife hits When Your Looking Like That and Flying Without Wings, which guaranteed a sing-along from the crowd.
Playing an acoustic guitar throughout, his vocals were on top form and cheeky banter the from the former Australia’s Got Talent judge had the crowd laughing in-between songs.
There were many happy faces leaving the Mecca that night looking as if they’d won the jackpot.
