STARS of the stage are coming to the Tees Valley for a packed programme of theatre entertainment.

The Forum Theatre in Billingham has revealed its spring programme and it includes something for all the family.

Singer Joe McElderry takes to the stage on Saturday, March 1, and, soon after, the Forum hosts a production of The Mousetrap - the West End hit which is on its first-ever tour of the UK.

It arrives at the Forum on Monday, March 10, and runs until Saturday, March 15.

Lesley Joseph, fresh from a new run of the television show Birds of a Feather, will be starring in the musical Hot Flush on Tuesday, March 18.

Comedian and actress Jenny Eclair will feature in The Return of the Grumpy Old Women on Thursday, May 8, and comedians Chubby Brown, Jethro, Jimmy Cricket and the Chuckle Brothers all have dates at the Billingham venue.

There’s plenty for the younger generation as well with the Barney - Live show on Saturday, February 15 as well as the half-term holiday pantomime The Wizard of Oz from Wednesday, February 19, to Saturday, February 22.

Classical entertainment arrives with productions of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream next June.

Theatre manager Derek Cooper said: “We have got drama, comedy and lots of music.

“We constantly strive to put on lots of different things, including shows for young families. For some children, this might be their first experience of the theatre and for their parents, it might be their first time back, and it reminds them that the theatre can be a nice day out.”

The programme also includes a three-night run of Hercule Poirot In Black Coffee which will be performed by The Official Agatha Christie Theatre Company from Monday, May 12, to Saturday, May 17.

Another huge attraction is likely to be David Gest’s Legends of Soul night on Sunday, February 23.

It features The Temptations Review, Candi Station, Percy Sledge, Cece Peniston, and Sheila Ferguson as well as many more top artists. Derek described the line-up as “an incredible cast”.
