Join the growing numbers who are stepping out in style

Social dance sessions have been extended in Hartlepool because they are so popular.

Weekly classes are already being held at the Borough Hall where they attract dozens of people each Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm.

But the Brierton Sports Centre has welcomed sessions every Friday at 1pm to 3pm. The cost of taking part is £3 and refreshments are available.

It gives people a chance to try out new sequence dances plus old favourites including Rumba Rosalie, Saunter Together and a selection of ballroom and Latin.

All dancers are welcome from complete novices to the more advanced. Places for either of the weekly sessions can be booked at the Headland Sports Centre in Union Street in advance and on the day.

But these are not the only opportunities for people to get into the swing.

Move to Music is another project which has been launched in town.

It gives people a chance to try Dancersise on Mondays from 1.15pm at the Summerhill Visitors Centre. The cost is £10 for a block booking of five weeks, or Thursdays from 1.15pm at Brierton Sports Centre for £2 per person.

People can also try FitSteps on Wednesdays from 1pm or Thursdays from 7pm at Brierton Sports Centre, costing £2 per person.
