A GYM club is holding a psychic fundraising night to boost its coffers after an expensive plumbing nightmare.

Hartlepool Gymnastics Club, based in Lynn Street South, Hartlepool, was left facing a £10,000 bill when its heating system was condemned in September last year.

One of the coaches, Allison Hockborn, went on a fundraising mission to rake in as much of the bill as possible, hauling in generous donations from Hartlepool councillors, Hartlepool Lions, the Rothley Trust in Northumberland, and TFM Radio’s Cash for Kids appeal.

The shortfall for the £10,000 bill was met through the club’s coffers.

Allison said the heating system was paid for and installed but now the group – which teaches over 350 Hartlepool kids – is hoping to put some money back in its kitty through a psychic fundraising night with mediums Peter Crawford and Irene Wilson next month.

And any money raised will be used to pay for gym mats, beams, bars and other equipment as and when it is needed.

She said: “We want to say a massive thanks to everyone who contributed to the new heating system.

“We’d now love to make the psychic night a big success so we can put some money back into the club’s fund.”

The psychic night will be held at Hartlepool Rugby Club, which is also known as Old Boys Rugby Club, in Easington Road, in Hartlepool, from 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 5.

Tickets cost £12 and are available by ringing Allison on 07534 366560, or from the gym club or rugby club.
