A SEA of pink filled a Hartlepool shopping centre where talented dancers stepped out to promote a charity run.

Students from Elwick Academy of Dance showed off their moves in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, to inspire women to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Hundreds of women will tackle the 5k run on the seafront promenade at Hartlepool, on Sunday, July 6. To promote it, dancers performed Race for Life’s Cancer Slam.

It will also be performed by thousands of women as part of the rousing warm-up at over 280 Race for Life events around the UK this summer.

Elwick Academy of Dance instructor Leanne Jeffries said: “We’ve had a great time learning the routine. Cancer touches so many of us. That’s why we want to do everything we can to motivate women to power up the pink and show cancer who’s boss.”

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, raises millions of pounds every year to help beat cancer sooner. Every hour, around 40 North East people are diagnosed with cancer.

Last year, 1,534 women ran in Hartlepool and raised £78,028. To enter, visit www.raceforlife.org or call 0845 6006050.
