Pupils from the JLM Dance, which is based in Hartlepool, took part in a competition at Whitby Pavilion, and academy owner Jemma Mudd said: “We had some fantastic results.

“We took 47 students to this annual competition, reaching 52 semi-finals and 50 finals.”

The talented JLM dancers brought home 50 trophies and Jemma said: “I am delighted.

“The best results of the day came from the adults.

“We have seen a massive increase in numbers over the last year, especially in gents, who all made finals at the competition, winning their sections. The students have all worked extremely hard and I am so proud of the results they have achieved, especially those who haven’t even been dancing for a year.”

Jemma opened the JLM dance school in 2012 after dancing herself from the age of four.

She took part in competitions all over the world including in Paris and decided she wanted to pass on her knowledge.

She began running lessons which turned out to be hugely popular.
