A HARTLEPOOL firefighter is considering a career in TV after proving a hit on a reality show.
Liam Lewis, who has found fame by starring in MTV’s Ex On The Beach, and has also appeared on BBC One’s 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow in 2010 and ITV’s Take Me Out in 2012, hopes to pursue a career on the small screen.
The 25-year-old chemical firefighter, who lives in the Park Road area of town, is continuing to work while juggling his new-found celebrity lifestyle.
Liam, who turned up the heat on the show by inciting trouble, said: “I am still working as a fireman and work have been supportive.
“The lads are really good, they help me out with shift swaps so I can do public appearances and stuff.
“It’s crazy. I may be leading the celebrity lifestyle but I wouldn’t class myself as a celeb.”
Liam revealed that he is one contestant who didn’t have an old flame appear on the show, though there are rumours of him appearing in series two.
“I was chuffed to bits that I didn’t have an ex that went in, especially because of all the drama I caused,” he added.
“It leaves it open for series two so that could potentially happen, but I don’t know yet.
“I love being on the TV, and if there are opportunities out there then I’d have a look at them because it is something I’d like to do in the future.”
The show, which saw a mixture of men and women head to Marbella to find love, also delivered the contestant’s revengeful exs one by one to the resort.
He went on: “So far MTV haven’t edited it to make me look like someone I wasn’t.
“I had fun on there, I was just honest and said what I thought.
“I caused a bit of drama and stuff but I’m happy with how I’m coming across.
“Everyone loves it, my friends and family think it’s hilarious, and the response has been phenomenal.”
Liam has been busy with various weekend personal appearances as part of his commitments to the show, though he admits he has enjoyed one night out in his hometown since the series began.
“I had a night out in Hartlepool with my friends and it was good. But I just felt like I was having the same conversation about the show over and over,” he added.
“But it’s nice that people are watching the show though, and I really appreciate all the support I’m getting.”
• Ex on the Beach is screened at 10pm on Tuesdays.
