A WHOLE lot of ex-straw-dinary scarecrows were created as two villages went head to head in a fun competition.
Once again, Elwick and Castle Eden villagers pitted their scarecrow making skills against each other to come up with the most imaginative efforts.
Castle Eden wrestled the crown for the best village from Elwick when the winners were announced at a family picnic in Elwick on Saturday afternoon.
Judging by the independent Tees Valley Rural Community Council took place on Friday.
Picking up the shield for best village Amanda Moon, secretary of Action Castle Eden, said: “I’m very happy. I think the quality in both villages was better than ever before and the villagers showed a lot of imagination.”
Elwick’s individual winners were also revealed at the event.
First place went to the scarecrow children reminding drivers to slow down in North Lane by the Carter, Mailen and, Hall and Lavelle families.
Louise Parks, chairman of Elwick Millennium Association, said: “I would like to thank everyone who joined in the fun and think we had some deserving winners.”
