A TOUCH of Broadway is being brought to Hartlepool thanks to dance school owner Carol Hammond.
Carol, who runs the Carol Hammond School of Dance, which is based in Dalton Street, Hartlepool, has launched the Broadway Theatre Club for youngsters to enjoy learning without the pressure of exams at the end of it all.
It is a chance for children aged from five to nine years old to enjoy learning a huge range of dance skills.
Carol said: “Within my studio, we now have the Broadway Theatre Club which is suitable for five to nine-year-olds on a Saturday morning, from 9am to 10am.
“Their teacher is fully qualified with the Northern Counties Dance Teachers’ Association.
“Within the class, boys and girls can take part in tap, jazz and contemporary dance.”
Carol explained why the class is ideal for younger children.
“The beauty of this club is that we do not do shows, pantomimes or exams. The class is just a weekly fun event with no pressure.”
Carol has also started fun tap classes for ladies.
They are held each week on a Monday, and run from 7pm to 8pm.
Carol described the classes as a chance to “tap your troubles away and have fun”.
She added; “Whether adults have tap danced before or whether they are absolute beginners, it is a great hobby.”
Carol is an ideal person to lead the way. She has vast experience in the business and has travelled to many countries as an examiner for the International Dance Teachers Association.
The popular studio’s latest sessions come after the unveiling of a number of other new sessions in recent weeks.
Latin American, ballroom, salsa, samba and baccata are all being tried out by students.
Carol is also teaching tap, burlesque, and belly dancing.
