THE search is on for super-talented dancers to make up an all-conquering mega crew.
Zac Healey, the choreographer and member of Hartlepool street crew Ruff Diamond, has revealed his latest plan.
His Urban Rockz Dance Studio is auditioning for up to 30 people to form a brand new outfit, and it won’t just be from people within Urban Rockz.
Zac wants dancers for next year’s Hip Hop International UK championships. If they win that contest, they qualify for the hiphop world competition in Las Vegas.
Auditioning will be held at the Urban Rockz studio in Whitby Street South on Sunday, October 12.
Dancers aged from seven to 12 will audition between 1pm and 4pm. Those aged 13 and over should attend from 4pm to 8pm. Anyone interested should just turn up on the day.
Zac’s wants four crews to compete in the junior, varsity, adult and mega crew sections.
And there’s another reason to go along to the auditions. Zac also hopes to find some extra faces for the award-winning Ruff Diamond crew which were UK hiphop dance champions in 2013, the same year that they were runners-up in the Got To Dance competition.
He said: “We are trying to get more people involved in the auditions from both inside and outside the school. We are trying to get the word out to as many people as possible.
“We want to reach experienced dancers, including those who have never done street before. If people are interested they should just come down to the auditions.
“One of the crews we want to put together is a mega crew for the UK championships and hopefully Las Vegas as well.”
Meanwhile, Ruff Diamond are still in huge demand.
Zac said: “We have got a gig in Milyon Keynes and we have also been asked to perform at a fireworks display in front of 30,000 people”.
