A YEAR of success will be marked at a dance school with its first ever show.
The Amy Richardson Studios, in Whitby Street South Hartlepool, has enjoyed a fantastic first 12 months.
Dance school owner Amy Richardson said: “I opened in January last year and can’t believe what the studios have achieved already.
“It’s a second home to many children and adults who not only have so much talent within performing arts or commitment and determination in fitness classes, but have built up amazing friendships all round.
“I am constantly thinking up new ideas to bring to the studios every week and can’t wait to see what the rest of 2014 brings for everyone.”
The school already has more than 90 children from 18 months old to 21 years. It took part in the recent Karen Liddle Dance Festival, in Hartlepool, with Amy donating a trophy to the event.
It was called the Freda Compton Memorial Trophy in tribute to the woman who trained her.
And the trophy went back to Amy’s studio when her own students won the title of the most promising school.
Success continued for the school at the recent Durham County Championship. Tiffany Pitman, aged 15, took top spot in the senior tap category.
And there’s been other developments as well. The school recently held its first presentation night and raised £300 which was donated to the Stroke Unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
And there’s more news to come.
The school is hosting its first ever production called A New World.
It will run at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, from Thursday, March 13, to Saturday, March 15. Shows will be held at 6.45pm each evening and there will also be a 2pm matinee on the Saturday.
Tickets are £9.50 or £8.50 with concessions. Anyone wanting tickets should contact the theatre box office on (01429) 890000.
