ALBUM REVIEW: Ghost Culture - Ghost Culture

GHOST CULTURE ... Ghost Culture (Because)
GHOST CULTURE ... Ghost Culture (Because)

JAMES Greenwood’s initiation within London’s house scene came as studio engineer, his most eminent credit being Daniel Avery’s excellent LP Drone Logic.

Arriving two years later, his own debut strives for similar masterly highs - but while occasionally hitting the mark, its overall effect lacks the same potency.

One area in which he has no problem is creating big, barefaced dancefloor fillers, with the vibrant, wickedly-infectious technicolor of Giudecca sure to become a club staple.

Attempts to break from these conventions are, however, rather less distinguished, and although Ghost Culture holds the seeds of a winning formula, the result here is somewhat hit and miss.

6/10.
