LOCAL bands are being urged to register for a unique competition and battle it out with fellow musicians.
Eventual winners of the new-style Battle of the Bands competition will receive recording time in a studio, a CD and download release and a tour with the possibility of a longer contract.
Hartlepool is set to host two heats in the contest.
Artists will either perform at the Clarendon or the Studio, both in Tower Street, depending on their style of music.
A panel of judges will decide the winning band who will then go forward to compete in a North-East final.
Each finalist will be given a budget of £100 to book support acts and will perform at the venue which held their heat.
The winning band will be the act who draw the biggest crowd.
The new-style of competition was drawn up by Lee Crowe, of Bexhill Records, who will run the event alongside HeartRock Bookings and Fallout Events.
Lee, 19, who lives in Gala Close, in Seaton Carew and studies at Teesside University, said: “We have worked really hard on creating a prize package which will be beneficial to the winning artist in their progression to the future, as well as to keep them working with us.”
The heats will take place on Thursday, March 31.
Slots on the shows are limited.
