Cult singer Beans On Toast is set to give music fans in the North East a tasty treat this weekend.

The 34-year-old - real name Jay McAllister - is due at The Cluny in Newcastle on Sunday night to promote his new album, Rolling Up The Hill.

The record, his seventh in as many years, is due out on December 1 - his 35th birthday - on Xtra Mile Recordings.

Fresh from a six-week tour of the United States in support of labelmate Frank Turner, he is now embarking on his own headline jaunt.

He will be joined by husband and wife country duo Truckstop Honeymoon, who will open the show and join long-time collaborator Bobby Banjo as his backing band.

For the uninitiated, Beans has been singing his simple, opinionated songs about everyday matters for about 10 years, getting his point across with lots of humour.

Among the topics to arose his ire are chicken farms, health and safety, the smoking ban, and getting a new computer.

Tickets for The Cluny show are £9 in advance from 230 4474, online HERE or you can pay at the door, though that'll cost you more.
