A TEENAGER has won a talent competition and won himself a unique prize.

Michael Rice, 16, from Hartlepool, won ‘The Big Audition’ singing contest and the grand prize of performing to over 10,000 people at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena.

Organised by TFM’s Cash for Kids charity, Michael stunned the judges with his rendition of ‘I Look To You’ by Whitney Houston. He also raised £900 for the charity over the three weeks prior to the event.

Michael said: “I was so nervous. The standard was so high and when they said my name as the winner I was absolutely gobsmacked! I can’t wait to start rehearsing for Metro Radio Live where I will perform in front of 10,000 people; sharing the stage with some of the biggest artists around.”

Michael and the nine other contestants in the competition raised over £10,500 for the Cash for Kids charity. Kara Hatton from the charity said: “Michael is very talented and will no doubt have an amazing career in music.”
