AN up and coming alternative rock band comprising two sets of siblings have announced their biggest UK tour yet, including a Tyneside date.

Marmozets are just back from a triumphant six-week tour of the United States, and are in the midst of their final love shows of the year, with Taking Back Sunday.

It’s been a remarkable year for the five-piece from Bingley, West Yorkshire, who were described by Kerrang! magazine as “the best young band in the UK”.

After signing to Roadrunner Records in October 2013, they released their debut album, The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets, in September, to much critical acclaim.

The band are Becca Macintyre (vocals), her brothers Sam (guitar) and Josh (drums), and Bottomley siblings Jack (guitar) and Will (bass).

As well as releasing their debut album, this year has seen them play a closing-night headline set at Glastonbury’s BBC Introducing Stage, and other key festivals, including Reading, Leeds, Download and Radio 1 Rocks.

They’re already planning to up their game next year, and have revealed details of their biggest UK headline tour to date, including a date at the Riverside in Newcastle on Wednesday, February 25.

Tickets go on sale from 9am on Friday, priced £10, from www.livenation.co.uk.

They will be joined by special guests Steak Number Eight and Thought Forms on all dates.

To cap a phenomenal year, Marmozets are giving fans a special gift – previously unreleased track Broken Reflection. Recorded during sessions for their debut LP, it is available to download free from weird.marmozets.co.uk/brokenreflection, until December 21.
