MOD music fans are lining up for an evening in Hartlepool with a member of one of their favourite bands.
Rick Buckler, the drummer for The Jam, is coming to town as part of a promotional tour of his new autobiography.
He offered to stage the question and answer session after meeting longtime fan Kev McGuire, who is one of the organisers of Hartlepool’s March of the Mods scooter charity fundraisers, last year.
Kev, who is part of local band the Style Selektors, said: “We played a gig in Rick’s home town of Woking last year.
“He signed a canvas of The Jam for us which was raffled at our Teenage Cancer Trust event a few weeks ago.
“He chatted to us for ages and said ’here’s my number, keep in touch’.
When he was finalising dates for his Q&A tour he got in touch and asked if I fancied putting one on here.Kev McGuire, event organiser
“It was quite strange for me because I’m a massive Jam fan.
“Then when he was finalising dates for his Q&A tour he got in touch and asked if I fancied putting one on here.”
Rick is touring the UK to promote his book called That’s Entertainment, and will be in Newcastle the day before he is in Hartlepool.
He will answer fans’ questions in the event at the Seaton Sports Domes on June 11, starting at 7pm.
A DJ will also be playing all of The Jam classics.
Out of the 200 seats available, 115 have been snapped up so far.
Kev added: “It is going to be a good night.
“What has surprised me is the amount of young people coming who are just discovering The Jam now.”
The question and answer session will be followed by a short film on the band and some rare unseen photos will be on show.
Rick will also spend time chatting with the crowd plus signing copies of his new book.
Tickets priced £10 are available at www.seetickets.com under In The Crowd An Evening With Rick Buckler.
They are also available from That Little Vintage Shop in Park Road, Hartlepool.
