FRESH from the release of their new album, Edinburgh trio North Atlantic Oscillation will take to the stage in Newcastle next week.
The band, who just released The Third Day, is comprised of vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player Sam Healy, Ben Martin (drums, programming) and Chris Howard (bass).
They formed in 2005 and quickly became known for their intricate, progressive take on rock and electronica.
Their 2010 debut, Grappling Hooks, and follow-up, Fog Electric, gained them critical praise.
The drum section of their latest album was recorded in a Victorian mill in Newcastle
“The wood is from the late 1800s and even though in theory it’s far too big to use for drum recording, because of the material enough of the reflections get absorbed so you get a really nice sound,” said Sam.
•North Atlantic Oscillation play Star & Shadow Cinema in Newcastle on Tuesday. Doors are at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 from www.seetickets.com.
