A STAGE society is ready to hold its pantomime - but that’s just one part of a busy programme.
Officials at Hartlepool Stage Society say they are ready for their forthcoming production of the Wizard of Oz. It will be held in the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road, from Tuesday, November 4, to Saturday, November 8.
Each show will have a 7pm start and there will also be a Saturday matinee which starts at 2pm.
This is the first time that the society has staged a production with both its senior and junior sections on the same bill.
Society chairperson Jill Jackson said: “It is our first attempt at a pantomime having always kept within our comfort zone of musicals before. This is a big gamble for us, going into the unknown of both pantomimes and incorporating our new junior society.
“But hopefully we will win over the audience with the talent and enthusiasm of new junior society and the guidance of our senior section.
“All of the costumes and the set has been designed and made by members of the society and I am very proud of the finished production.”
She said students from Hartlepool College of Further Education were helping with make-up. Jill added: “Hopefully no stone has been left unturned to make the show one that is not to be missed.”
She urged anyone who wants to book tickets in advance, or who wants tickets to be delivered to them or put to one side for collection, to get in touch.
Jill urged people to join in with the fun and added: “Come along and get into the Christmas spirit. You will really enjoy it.”
The pantomime is one part of a busy programme for the society. It has also teamed up with Nouveau Dance and Fitness to offer dance and fitness at reduced rates.
