Hartlepool youngster Daniel Cooper was given a special treat when he had a one-to-one meeting with a legendary TV and film actor Ricky Tomlinson.
St Hild’s School pupil Daniel, 11, met his favourite actor after his mum Shirley contacted Hartlepool-based BBC Tees radio presenter Paul ‘Goffy’ Gough.
Goffy’s company, Goffy Media, were bringing the TV and Film star to Middlesbrough to play a sell-out show at the Dormans Club.
In his last year at Clavering School, which he left in July, Daniel was honoured with a ‘Sue Donkin Award’ for his achievements during his time at the junior school.
He attends Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts at the Riverside in Stockton, where he is studying drama, musical theatre and TV.
Shirley said: “I just asked Goffy, as a Hartlepool lad , if Daniel could meet Ricky while he was in the area, and he quickly agreed to put it in place.
“He was so lovely and warm to us all. He is a really special man and made Daniel feel like a million dollars.”
Daniel said, “I love Ricky and think he is the greatest as he can play so many roles. It was fantastic to meet Ricky, he gave me some tips about memorising my lines, and he told me to research the work of Ken Loach, the famous film and TV director. Ricky said that Ken had played a big part in his own success.”
Royle family star Ricky said: “It was lovely to meet Daniel and his family. He is really keen to make a career of acting and it was great to see how positive he was when we had a chat.
“Youngsters like Daniel are our next generation coming through, so I sincerely wish him every success.”
