Star Wars and four more huge movies to come before the end of the year

The summer blockbuster season might be over but there’s still plenty for cinema fans to look forward to in 2015.

From suave spy thrillers to adventures in a galaxy far, far, away, here are five big movies still to come before the end of the year.

The Martian - September 30

Alien director Ridley Scott returns to his sci-fi roots with The Martian. Based on the hit book by Andy Weir, Matt Damon stars as astronaut Mark Watney, who is left behind on Mars after his crew presumes him dead following a fierce storm on the red planet. Watney must use his ingenuity to survive in the hostile environment and find a way to signal Earth in the hopes that he can be rescued.

Crimson Peak - October 16

Mexican maestro Guillermo del Toro brings his trademark style to the supernatural horror genre in Crimson Peak. Set in Cumbria in the 19th century, Mia Wasikowska stars as young author Edith Cushing, whose new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), is not quite what he seems. And to make matters worse, she discovers his house harbours ghostly and mysterious entities that he and his sister Lady Lucille (Jessica Chastain) try desperately to hide ...

Spectre - October 26

Daniel Craig dons the famous tuxedo once again in Spectre, the latest Bond extravaganza to hit the big screen. The action starts when the suave super spy receives a cryptic message which sets in motion events that will see him come face-to-face with the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE ...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 - November 20

Katniss and co are back in the grand finale of The Hunger Games series as she confronts President Snow in a final showdown. Along with a team of her closest friends, Katniss sets off on a mission to liberate the citizens of Panem and attempt to overthrow President Snow, who has become obsessed with destroying the plucky leader of the revolution.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - December 18

Not a lot is known about the plot of this long awaited Star Wars sequel, but one thing is for sure, there’ll be no shortage of action and adventure when The Force Awakens on December 18! Expect to see a whole host of new heroes and villains along with some old favourites who will be returning to the saga for the first time since Return of the Jedi in 1983. And if you want a sneak peek at what might be in store, a selection of Star Wars toys based on the new movie have hit the shops already.
