Coastguard teams called to a Seaham beach after possible ordnance was discovered

Shortly before 9pm on Sunday, June 20, the Humber Coastguard tasked the Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team to Blast Beach in Seaham after they received reports that possible ordnance had been discovered on the rocks.
Volunteers from Hartlepool attended the scene and captured photos of the potential explosive before submitting them to EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) for further analysis.

Hide AdCoastguard crews stood down when the tide rose, submerging the possible bomb under water – with EOD making further assessments on the subject.
A Hartlepool Coastguard spokesperson said: “As we were standing down from the previous call out we received a immediate from Humber Coastguard to reports of possible ordnance on the blast beach at Seaham.
“Photos were taken and forwarded to EOD. But with the tide on the rise it’s now under water while they make further assessments to the subject.”
