A nightmare neighbour who made residents’ lives a misery has been moved after action by Hartlepool community safety officials.

The woman who lived in an apartment in Park Tower in the town centre and was often heavily under the influence of alcohol, subjected neighbours to a barrage of anti-social behaviour at all hours leaving them unable to sleep.

Her behaviour included shouting, screaming and banging inside her property or on a balcony, throwing glass vodka bottles off the balcony, issuing threats and exposing herself.

The woman’s disruptive behaviour would often start as early as 7.30am and continue until the early hours of the following day.

The situation became so bad that some residents even decided to move out of their own apartments.

She was also racially abusive to another resident, which saw her prosecuted and convicted at court separately.

The woman agreed to give up her accommodation within the former department store, after the Hartlepool Community Safety Team obtained a temporary Closure Order on the top-floor apartment.

Her decision meant that no further court action was needed.

Anti-Social Behaviour Officer Marie Harland said: “The Hartlepool Community Safety Team is not prepared to tolerate such behaviour, and we immediately began to compile a case against this woman as soon as the problems at Park Tower were reported to us.
