Thousands of people flocked to the waterfront for two big late-summer events in Hartlepool this weekend.

Crowds were entertained with arts and music at Jackson’s Landing on Saturday at the Waterfront Festival.

A number of people performed on the main stage during the event, including children’s favourites Cook and Line, from CBeebies, and former X Factor star Jake Quickenden.

On Sunday, meanwhile, more than 1,000 people watched the town’s annual raft-making race – the highlight of the annual carnival.

Eight brave groups took to the icy waters.
