Skipper Jonjo Shelvey believes Newcastle United answered their critics with Manchester City point
Shelvey was the hero at St James’s Park with an 88th minute leveller as United twice came from behind to claim a deserved point against Pep Guardiola’s title-chasing side.
The performance was a far cry from the the Magpies’ debacle at Villa Park five days earlier – and Shelvey was delighted with the way his side bounced back.
“I think we deserved a point,” he said.

Shelvey, who is United’s top-scorer with three goals, continued: “We need to get as many points as quickly as possible.
“It is a massive point against them - you don't become Premier League champions for nothing.
“The games come thick and fast now, we need to dust ourselves down and go again Thursday.”
