Hartlepol Male Voice Choir postpones celebrity concert with G4 due to coronavirus
The classical four-piece group had been due to perform at Hartlepool Male Voice Choir’s annual summer celebrity concert on Friday, June 26, at the Borough Hall.
Following the Covid-19 outbreak and the ongoing closure of cultural buildings, the choir has postponed the concert until next summer.

Tickets that have already been brought for the show are valid for the new date.
Duncan Graham, chairman of Hartlepool Male Voice Choir, said: “G4 were very keen. As soon as the lockdown started we gave them a couple of new dates, they picked one and that was it.
“We are looking forward to it happening.”
Anybody who has bought a ticket through choir members and would like a refund can get them.

G4, who sing poplar classical music, were runners up in the first series of The X Factor back in 2004 and have gone on to enjoy big success, selling more than two million albums.
The lockdown restrictions have also led to the choir having to cancel a number of other concerts and been unable to meet to practice every week as rehearsals typically average 50 to 60 members.
They are still planning to hold their popular Christmas concert in December.

“I know all the members are missing the choir like crazy. We’re keeping in touch with each other by telephone and Facetime.”
While many friends have been staying in touch via computer using video apps such as Zoom, Duncan said unfortunately it does not lend itself well to choir rehearsal.
“It doesn’t sound the same,” he said. “You need to be with each other to rehearse.”
