Hartlepool training company offering unemployed chance to get back into work

Orangebox Training Solutions Ltd, based on the Queens Meadow Business Park, is launching a new academy with apprenticeship opportunities for 16 to 24-year-olds to join the company in a variety of roles.

It could lead to a placement with Orangebox as learner engagement officers, enrolment officers and in administration support as the firm continues to expand.

The company, started by former policeman and surveillance expert Simon Corbett in 2016, says it has already been inundated with applications.

Orangebox design and marketing officer Glen Hughes said: “We’re very proud to be Hartlepool based and want to put something back by giving young people not in education, employment or training like college leavers or those without qualifications opportunities.”

Meanwhile, the company is continuing to help unemployed people to apply for and find employment through its employability training programmes.

The one and two week courses are tailored to clients that are recruiting in the care, warehouse and beauty sectors.

At the end of 2020, 13 Orangebox learners got jobs at retailer One Below’s new Hartlepool store on Teesbay Retail Park.

Learner Alexander Keers said: “Having been unemployed before contacting Orangebox I am over the moon to now be a full time member of staff at One Below in Hartlepool.”

And working in partnership with the UK recruiter Staffline, they have helped many unemployed people get local jobs with a global distribution company.

Mark Beard, Director of Operations at Orangebox, said: "The programme has already enjoyed success in the Tees Valley with learners from many cohorts progressing into employment. We are planning more cohorts to start in February 2021.”

The courses, which run for one or two weeks, are open to anyone who is unemployed and in receipt of benefits or earning the National Minimum Wage.

Mr Corbett said: “A long job search can be demoralising, and at times it may feel like you'll never find a job, but Orangebox training would love to hear from you and help you ‘get back in the game’ with help support, training and employment.”
