Mr Walker told of his ‘honour to be able to present the award winners of the Sporting Excellence and Sports Team of the Year categories this year – I am sure it will be stiff competition in both groups.

“The local sporting scene always amazes me which is why it will be such a hard decision for the judges.

“Sporting nominees are incredibly inspiring as they are always aiming to be the very best and at the top of their game which is what we strive for at Specsavers.

“This year, we invested in 3D scanning technology for our customers which is a cutting-edge piece of machinery to ensure we are providing top class service. And there’s more investment in new and impressive technology to come

“It is so important to give back to Hartlepool which is why we didn’t think twice about sponsoring the awards.

“Every year, the prestigious awards ceremony makes us proud to be from the North East. The evening is one of the best events of the year so we cannot wait to celebrate with all the nominees and winners.

“We wish everyone who is nominated the very best of luck – everyone involved is worthy of the recognition and more.”

Our thanks go to the sponsors who helped to make the awards possible. They are Utility Alliance, Stagecoach North East, Specsavers, English Martyrs, Hartlepool Sixth Form and Northern School of Arts.
