Hartlepool fundraiser marches on as he passes half way point on hospice walk to Liverpool
An intrepid fundraiser has passed the half way mark in a challenge to walk from Hartlepool to Liverpool.
He is walking around 20 miles a day is making great progress.
Jack posted an update on social media on Monday to say he had reached the half way point at Grassington, in North Yorkshire.
He is on course to complete the walk later this week.
And Jack has already surpassed his target to raise £2,000 for Alice House with the total currently running at over £2,300 on JustGiving.
He decided to do the charity walk after successfully overcoming two diagnoses of cancer in the last five years.
Jack, who is a mortgage adviser, said he has been treated brilliantly by the NHS with his treatment ongoing.
He said on his fundraising page: “Alice House Hospice exists to ensure people affected by a life limiting illness such as cancer or the death of a loved one have the care, comfort and support they need.
"As the only adult Hospice in the Hartlepool and East Durham area. The clinical staff provide top care with dignity and compassion.”
He set himself a target of raising £2,000 because that is how much it would cost to fund a fund a registered general nurse for 200 hours of work.
