Back in 1988, we had a royal visit and an appearance by a famous Irish singer who wowed the residents of a town old people’s home.
A charity football match and a town youth choir also made the news. So did a reunion which was held for people who used to live in the same streets before they were demolished.
All this in a year when we listened to Fairground Attraction, Milli Vanilli and Vanessa Paradis in the charts and watched Cheers and Roseanne on TV.
Re-live the memories of a great year.
