9. The pub which had a petition
The Prince of Wales Hotel in Middleton was opened in 1868. In July 1958, following a petition, it was agreed that it could open Monday and Friday at 5 pm and Wednesday and Thursday at 5.30 pm rather than the usual 6pm to 10 pm to 'settle the dust of a day's labour'. Photo: Hartlepool Museum Service
