Abundance of hits

HITS galore will be belted out from a North East stage when the clock is turned back to the 1980’s.

80’s Mania comes to the Empire Theatre in Sunderland on Thursday, May 31, featuring songs made famous by stars such as Duran Duran, The Human League, Kim Wilde, and Culture Club.

The sounds of Wham, Nena, Toni Basil, Dead or Alive, Madness, Madonna, Spandau Ballet, Cyndi Lauper, and loads more will also be recreated in a show featuring a live band, dance troupe and a laser and light show.

The show is now in its fourth year and this year, the Top of the Pops and Radio 1 presenter and DJ, Mike Read, is involved.

Mike was that impressed that he wanted to be in 80’s Mania, but due to his demanding work schedule he was unable to commit to all the dates.

But with the magic of two giant projector screens he will star as the show’s compere/presenter.

He will also use his impersonation skills to transform himself into the late Sir Jimmy Savile and Sir Bob Geldof, who both feature on the screens, and as a final addition to the show Mike provides the DJ voice for the pre-show, interval and after show “Fictitious Radio Station”, which is broadcast into the venue as a warm up to excite the crowd.

Tickets are priced at £20 and to book, call 0844 871 3022. A booking fee applies.

The show starts at 7.30pm.
