HOSPICE supporters are in for a belly good show when dancers from across the region perform together to raise charity cash.

A colourful collection of costumes and a variety of belly dancing styles will be on display when groups from across the North-East and Yorkshire embark upon Hartlepool Town Hall, in Raby Road, next month.

The star of the show will be Beverley Smith, one of the most experienced belly dancers and teachers in the area, who performs at events throughout the UK.

But she will be joined on stage on the night by groups including the Oriental Dance Company, Gillian’s Troupe and the Sahara Group along with a host of solo performers.

The belly dancing spectacular is taking place at the venue on Sunday, November 3, from 3pm-5.30pm with every penny raised being donated to Hartlepool and District Hospice.

Show organiser Vanessa Gooding, who has been belly dancing for 10 years and teaching in the town since 2006, is promising a “vibrant show”.

She said: “The hospice is a really great local charity which needs our support.

“This is the first time I have organised a stage show and I hope that lots of people come along to see this vibrant show of belly dancing and support the hospice.”

Hospice staff are going along to the show on the night and were quick to thank the organisers in advance. Janice Forbes, community fundraiser at the Wells Avenue-based facility, said: “I am really looking forward to seeing this exciting show.

“It’s excellent that belly dancers from all over the region are getting together for this show and it should be a wonderful display of dancing and costumes.”

Tickets are still available for the event, priced at £9.50 for adults and £8.50 for concessions.

They are available by calling the Town Hall’s box office on (01429) 890000.

Doors open for the show at 2.30pm.
