A DANCE school is celebrating after winning a cash boost from a national project

Chelsea’s Chix, based at the Chelsea Lupton School of Dance in Hartlepool, has been given a £300 donation from the Mars Milk Fund. The team was selected for a People’s Choice Award after getting the most votes from friends and supporters.

The dance troupe specialises in freestyle disco and rock and roll. It also takes part in dance competitions all over the country.

One of the parents, Alison Ingram, said: “It’s fantastic to see them getting so much enjoyment from something that keeps them entertained and active.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and, of course, to the Mars Milk Fund. This donation will go towards the significant cost of travelling to competitions for the team.”

She said the money would also allow the school to pay for more parents travel to competitions.

The Mars Milk Fund was set up to help individuals, clubs and groups to try something new or spend more time playing their favourite sport or hobby. It runs until October 6 and has five £300 awards to donate each week.
