Drivers are bing warned to watch out for roadworks on the A178 in Hartlepool this week.

The A178 between Graythorp and Seal Sands will be closed from 8pm on Friday November 13 until 6am on Monday November 16 while work is carried out to replace a damaged expansion joint on Greatham Creek Bridge.

The work is being carried out jointly by Hartlepool Council and Stockton Council and signposted diversions will be in place via Wolviston Roundabout.

Brendon Colarossi, Hartlepool Council’s Principal Projects Engineer, said: “The damaged joint stretches underneath both carriageways, so to replace it we unfortunately have no option other than to close the whole of the bridge and the road to and from it.

“We apologise for any inconvenience which the work will cause – we will be carrying it out as quickly as possible.”
