A FIRST-CLASS wedding is beckoning for Bride of the Year winner Gemma Kerr - and that includes some really colourful touches.
The winner of the Hartlepool Mail competition, run in conjunction with Robert Usher Photography, is choosing her £13,000 package of prizes for her big day.
Among them is her chair covers, from the Ingleby Barwick-based First Class Wedding Company.
The five-year-old firm is owned and run by Angela Illingworth, who decided on a change of career after previously working as a secondary school science teacher.
“I felt the time was right for a change,” said Angela who gets clients from Northumberland to Morecambe. “I had been looking to do something on my own for quite a while and I came up with this idea a few years ago.”
From fledgling beginnings, the firm now enjoys great success and can provide covers in colours from dusky pinks to delicate greens.
“We can cover most distances and we cater for most of the North-East,” said Angela.
It specialises in decorating for special occasions with everything from chair covers to centre pieces, and candelabras to starlight backdrops. Many modern brides love weddings with touches to reflect the Great Gatsby or Downton Abbey, said Angela.
She added: “We have got something like 300 weddings this year and the business is doing really well.”
Bride-to-be Gemma said: “The chair covers are all lovely and it was difficult to choose from so many beautiful covers. I am sure they will help to add an extra touch to the day.”
Gemma, 28, and fiance Andrew Bazeley, 25, will marry in September. They will take their vows in the Captain’s Cabin on board HMS Trincomalee.
While Gemma’s colour theme remains a closely guarded secret, she got to pick from an impressive range of combinations.
