A SPECTACULAR annual attraction is set to light up the seafront once again.

The Hartlepool Fireworks Spectacular will be held on Saturday, November 2, and thousands of people are likely to converge on Seaton Carew for almost three hours of fun and entertainment.

Organisers are urging people to use park and ride services because of the sheer level of crowds.

The annual attraction always pulls in massive crowds, causing traffic congestion along the seafront and problems with parking in and around Seaton Carew.

This year’s event, which runs from 4pm to 6.50pm, will have a theme of superheroes, and officials are hoping many people will come along dressed as their favourite characters to add to the occassion.

The action starts at 4pm when the funfair rides for youngsters will open.

The programme of entertainment starts at 5pm and the fireworks display will get underway at 6pm.

Organisers say the best viewing area is to the rear of the clock tower – and that’s where people will get both a brilliant view of the display and dancing along to the superheroes’ themed music.

A park and ride shuttle bus service will operate regularly from Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience to get people to and from the event.

There will be road closures in the Seaton Carew area at the time of the event.

The seafront will be closed from the Station Lane junction to the junction with Elizabeth Way between 6.15pm and 7.15pm.

And while people are being urged to use park and ride, those who decide to take their cars to Seaton are being warned they are likely to expect delays when it comes to moving their vehicle after the event.

They are being urged to be patient and officials are also warning that there may be further road closures.

The event is sponsored by Niramax Total Waste Solutions.
