Why not pay a visit to one of these North East restaurants – all newly-accredited by the AA Restaurant Guide 2020.
1. Eslington Villa Hotel, Gateshead
Eslington Villa was once built for a Victorian industrialist, but is now a hotel with tonnes of period features and a lovely dining room with excellent food. It’s new in the guide this year.
2. The Lord Crewe Arms, Blanchland
This traditional British Inn was built for residents of Blanchland Abbey in the 1100s, and according to the guide has a very atmospheric bar and great food.
3. Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa, Chathill
The AA guide recommends the seared scallops with two croquettes of pig’s cheek with celeriac for a starter in this ornate restaurant.
4. Tillmouth Park Country House Hotel, Cornhill-on-Tweed
This hotel sits on the border between England and Scotland and is a lovely Victorian building with landscaped grounds. The menu is based on modern British food with international influences.
