A HARTLEPOOL street dance crew is all set to appear in major show at Wembley Arena.

Ruff Diamond will open the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards this Sunday when they dance with the show’s presenters, pop icon Rita Ora and Radio 1 Breakfast host Nick Grimshaw, said a spokesman for the crew.

Mark Watson, who acts as a liaison person between the Ruff Diamond crew and their manager, added: “It is testament to how far they have come this year.”

Other stars on the line-up include Jessie J, James Arthur and Tinie Tempah. The awards are held to honour heroes in everyday life, music and entertainment.

Mark added: “We are delighted to be involved in something so big. Ruff Diamond are opening the show. They are dancing with Rita Ora who is presenting the show and Nick Grimshaw.”

In a remarkable year so far, Ruff Diamond were runners-up in the Sky 1 competition Got To Dance.

Weeks later, they picked up a special recognition honour at this year’s Pride of Hartlepool awards.

The crew were crowned UK adult hip hop champions, and were 16th in the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas.

They then won the Inspire category at the Hartlepool Mail Sports Awards and crew choreographer Zac Healey won the choreographer’s category in the Carl Allan Awards.
