DOZENS of people turned out in support of a town cheerleading team.

The Hartlepool Hawks put on a fantastic show as they organised their own festive fun day.

Families enjoyed a range of fun and games and were even treated to a performance from the national trophy-winning outfit.

The activities were organised to help the club raise money for new equipment.

It was the latest in a string of events supporting the team and taking them closer towards the £4,000 required for specialist flooring for the cheerleaders.

Rebecca Taylor, head coach of the Hawks, said: “As ever we would like to thank everyone who came along and supported us on the day.

“It was absolutely fantastic, it’s brilliant to get so much support.”

As well as the talented cheerleaders, students from On Your Toes dance school performed on the day. It’s been a busy few weeks for the team, who celebrated their first birthday recently.

As well as the fun day and a host of other events they have organised, the youngsters also got together for their end of year presentation evening.

The evening and fun day raised £1,300.

And, as reported in the Mail, the team kicked off their season in fantastic fashion with a host of impressive performances at the recent British Championships, held at the Winter Gardens, in Blackpool.

After a break from competition for their fundraiser and presentation evening, the Hawks will be back in action, in Blackpool again, for the International Championships to be held at the end of next month.

The club meet and train in Brierton Community Sports Centre, in Catcote Road, Hartlepool.
