A dance school and stage society is planning its next show all about a drama group.
The piece called Am Dram will be performed by the east Durham group Maldo Productions on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13.
Spokesman Sarah Taylor said: “It’s a piece self-devised by director Wayne Malcolm.
“It follows the fortunes of a local drama group over the summer holidays, features lots of fun, drama, teenage romance and most importantly, brilliant music.”
Well-known songs from the musicals will be performed and Sarah added: “The cast are really looking forward to staging this production and showing a side of amateur dramatics that a lot of people might know and identify with.”
She said the performers were across all age ranges from eight to adults in their 60s and added: “It really features a wealth of experience. We want as many people to come and support our local community.”
The shows are held at Easington Social Welfare Centre with a 7.15pm performance on Friday, April 12, and a 1.30pm show on Saturday, April 13.
Sarah added: “As well as Am Dram, we want to recruit lots of new cast members for our musical extravaganza, which will take place in July, with rehearsals due to start at the end of April.
“It doesn’t matter how much experience you have, we welcome people of all ages and abilities. If you’re interested please get in touch.”
Tickets are £5 for Am Dram. Rehearsals are held at St Hild and St Helen’s church, in Mount Stewart Street, Dawdon on Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 8.30pm
