A KEEN cook and self-confessed competition addict is set to feature in a number of magazines after scooping her latest prize.

Julia Kiss enters every competition she sets her eyes on and over the years she has won hundreds of prizes ranging from a cruise around the Mediterranean to a wok.

She has also featured on ITV’s This Morning programme and enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime trip in a hot air balloon.

The 47-year-old was treated like royalty again this week when she enjoyed a first class trip and photo shoot in London.

Julia, who lives in the Fens area of Hartlepool, showed off her cooking prowess and cooked up some apple-filo tarts and entered them into a Candarel competition.

She then received a phone call to say she had made the top five and celebrity chef Ed Baines was set to cook the short-listed recipes and make a decision on the winner.

And Julia’s apple tart proved a treat as Ed opted for her desert.

It means she will now feature in an advert for Candarel in a number of magazines including BBC Good Food Magazine, Prima, Weight Watchers and Slimming World.

She has even been told the advert, which will be launched in September this year, will be used as two-page spreads.

“It was a fantastic day down in London,” said Julia, who works as an information analyst at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.

“I had no idea how professional it would be, I was there for five hours.

“I can’t wait to see it in the print though.”

It has been a successful week for Julia who also found out she had won a day with celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli - but she has decided to trade it in for another prize.

“I have met Jean Chrisophe Novelli before thanks to competitions I have won and I was over the moon when I found out I had won another,” she said.

“But the winning prize was just for one, I normally like to take my sisters so I sent an email and asked if there was any chance I could change the prize for something else.”

The competition organisers said changing the prize would not be a problem and Julia is now going to use the vouchers to take her sisters for a one-night stay at a bed and breakfast in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

“All of the competitions I am winning are cooking ones, I want to win a car or a house,” Julia joked.

“I am not complaining though, it’s all good fun.”
