Hartlepool adventure seekers are being encouraged to get down and dirty in the ultimate obstacle challenge.

The annual Muddy Mayhem challenge takes place at Hardwick Park, near Sedgefield, and this year’s event in October is being described as bigger and better than ever before.

Runners must be aged 16 or over to enter and have a reasonable level of fitness.

Registration is already open for the Sunday, October 2 event, with waves of runners setting off between 11am and 3pm.

Councillor Maria Plews, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for leisure, libraries and lifelong learning, said: “Muddy Mayhem is always a popular event.

“From cargo nets to climbing walls, tunnels, freezing open water and other surprises, this year promises a real test for everyone taking on our tough 5km or 10km courses.”
