MEMORIES of a now-demolished town school will be relived when a reunion takes place later this year.

Emma Maunder is organising a reunion for Brierton Comprehensive School’s Class of 1998.

It will take place at the Belle Vue Social Club, in Kendal Road, Hartlepool, from 7.30pm on Saturday, November 1.

Emma, now 32, said she would love to see as many of the year group as possible in attendance, as well as teachers, including Mr Middleton, Dr Nicholson, Mr Smith, Mr Glenn, Mrs Wells, Mr Robinson and Mrs Horner, as they were “all great teachers”.

Describing why she set about organising the reunion, Emma, a mum to three boys, who lives on the Central Estate, said: “Everybody’s been saying it for the last few years about organising one, but then someone set up a Facebook page and I got nominated to start the ball rolling.”

Support worker Emma said ex-classmates Emma Picton, Laura Ampleford, Stephanie Brand, Paul Thompson and Joanne Tunney had said they would help with planning.

She added that Rebecca Marshall, who is now a fashion designer, is planning to travel from London for the event, which will include a buffet and possibly a band.

Emma remembers a trip to Stainsacre, near Whitby, in the final year of school, as a highlight of her time at school.

“Our yeargroup was absolutely brilliant,” she added.

The school closed in 2009 and was demolished last year.

Tickets for the event are £7.50 and anyone wanting to find out more or book a ticket can search for School Reunion Class of 98 or Emma Louise Maunder on Facebook.
