FORMER students can take a trip down Memory Lane when they mark 30 years since leaving school.
A reunion is being organised for Peterlee-based St Bede’s Catholic Comprehensive School’s Class of 1984.
It will take place at Peterlee Catholic Club, in Grampian Drive, from 7pm on October 11.
The gathering is being organised by Maria Pegman, Joanne Gilfoyle (nee McAvoy) and Michael English.
Maria, a 46-year-old mum-of-four who lives in Easington Colliery and works at a butcher’s shop, said: “We have been trying for a little while to organise something and we thought the 30th anniversary would be a good time.
“I have tried to find Tracey Russell, I think her mum still lives in this area, but I’m not sure about anyone else.
“We have got in touch with quite a few from the surrounding areas but some have moved away.
“Hopefully the Mail can help get the word out to those who aren’t online.”
Maria added that Louise Close, nee Taggart, who now lives in Milton Keynes has said she will attend, as has Dawn Bellingham, who is in the RAF and has just got back from Afghanistan.
The event is also open to the year group’s former teachers and Maria and Joanne, a mum-of-two and hairdresser still living in Peterlee, particularly remember Mr Daley and Mrs McGowan, who are still teaching at the school, based in Westway.
The night features a disco and buffet and there will be a £5 cover charge on the door.
