Fantastic clothes and a great team.
They were among the wonderful memories of Mail readers when we asked them to reminisce on the Adams store in the Middleton Grange shopping centre.
It prompted interest from nearly 27,000 people when we posted a photograph of it on social media.
Marie Oliver said: “Used to shop there for my son who will be 20 in April. It was a fab shop.”
James Pearson remembered the car in the doorway while Amber Ryan commented: “The snakes on the floor were the best part.”
Linda Briggs said Adams was “ideal for school uniforms” while Sharon Iddon said: “Bought most of my sons clothes there when he was little x”

Elaine Docherty Brown reminisced: “Bought baby clothes for my two oldest sons ..had some lovely stuff from there.”
There were plenty of comments from former staff including Alison Churchill who said: “Some really lovely members of staff/friends , and really nice customers too.”
June Tumilty “loved being a manager there and working with some fabulous people many many years ago.”
Sandra Hall told us: “Loved my little store & fab team...21 years of happy memories working with some fantastic people...devastation when we all got made redundant 8 years ago...such a very sad time to see the shop close down.”
Ray Randall said: “I worked here it was fab.” Rebecca Fraser commented: “I worked there.. 12 years ago lol” and Jackie Hardy said: “Adams was everywhere , and my daughter used to work there. Was her first proper job.”
Our thanks also go to Jacqui Rogers who loved our reminder of another Hartlepoool favourite, Frank Wright’s.
Jacqui told us: “It was great to see my father in law’s shop - Frank Wright’s - featured in memory Lane.
“Frank Rogers bought Frank Wright’s shop in around 1959 and sold it in around 1984/85. We were able to forward the photo & article on to Frank’s daughter, and all his grandchildren who were born after its sale – it was a lovely memory of their grandfather.
“Frank had wonderful loyal staff who manned the departments over the years - Mrs Hall & Mrs Chapman.
“As a child I loved going around the toy department, then as a teenager lingering in the book room and buying ink cartridges and cards in stationary.
“Both of Frank’s children – Liz and Andrew - helped out in the shop, serving, ordering and delivering stock and banking. The shop had a white van with the FW logo on the side for delivering school book orders.
“When Andrew and I married in 1977 – it had to be on a Wednesday afternoon as the shop was closed for its half day – and all the staff could come to the wedding!
“It was a real Aladdin’s cave for all generations with a name for service and reliability. Still remembered fondly by many in the town.”
Thanks to everyone who responded.
