Today, Britain remembers the start of the bloodiest battle in its history.
Thousands of our soldiers lost their lives on July 1, 2016, as the Battle of the Somme began.
And today, 100 years on from when it all started, we remember and honour their sacrifice.
Here are some of your own tributes to the fallen servicemen.
Donna Leslie: "Thank you for everything you did for us. And every sacrifice you made."
Pat Goodings: "I feel very sad that you all had to die and so young and so brave."
Paul Temple: "Nobody should forget the history of their country. The pain and suffering our grandfathers and their fathers suffered."
Kevin Duffy: "Massive respect for those that put themselves on the line for their country."
Clive Lee: "We should never, ever forget those lads who were so very brave. Some were just boys, who were either had just left school, or lied about their age, some even only 15 years of age. God forbid this ever happening again."
Betty Cotton: "Thoughts and prayers to all those families."
Laurie Hall: "Impossible to comprehend what they went through."
Sylvia Longworth: "RIP. Bless you all."
Margaret Crosbie: "They will never be forgotten."
Margy James: "The older generation gave their all so we can be free in this country and not to be ruled. Lots died and those that were left rebuilt our beautiful land so they can be born."
Linda Fiskin: "Thank you to all who fought and for those that fell we will remember."
