“I can’t believe it is 32 years since our daughter Lynn, won the Gazette’s newsgirl of the year trophy.
“To see the article in Time of our Lives last Wednesday, brought back many happy and proud memories.
“Not only did she win a bicycle (which she still has in her loft) she was also taken along, with all of the other nominees, on a day trip to Kielder as a treat.
“Our Lynn was 14 years old when the photo was taken.
“She left school and went to college, then went to work for the local authority.
“She has been married for 21 years, and has an 18-year-old daughter.
“She still lives in South Shields and works at a primary school, in Hebburn, and is still pleasant, reliable, and helpful – although, of course, I may be biased.
“As a matter of interest does the trophy still exist and, if so, do you happen to know where it is now/
“We still have the original photo you published that she received from the Gazette at the time.
