Peterlee pub to play host to three football legends

A pub is to play host to three footballing greats during a sportsman’s dinner next month.

The Three Legends, alias Bernie Slaven, Malcolm Macdonald and Micky Horswill, will be at the Argus Butterfly, in York Road, Peterlee, from 7pm on Saturday, August 17.

The night will see former Black Cats midfielder Horswill, ex-Newcastle United forward MacDonald and former Boro defender Slaven, who host a North-East radio talk-in, being available for a question and answer session, as well regaling the audience with various anecdotes from their careers.

The night will be compered by comedian Steffen Peddie, who appeared in BBC2 comedy Hebburn and also includes a pie and peas supper.

Pub landlord Michael McCabe, who lives with partner Claire Hall in Crimdon and has been running the pub for almost a year, said: “This is quite a big event for the town.

“A friend worked with the Three Legends previously and helped me bring them to Peterlee.”
