Skatepark competition

SKATEBOARDERS, BMX riders and in-line skaters are being challenged to put their skills to the test in a competition being held in Hartlepool next week.

The Rozzy Plaza skate park, in Rossmere Way, is inviting young people aged eight-20, from around the region, to compete in an event on Wednesday, February 15, from 2pm-8pm.

They will get the chance to win prizes, ranging from BMX equipment to skateboards and protective clothing.

Peter Robinson, from Hartlepool Borough Council’s integrated youth support service, said: “The competition will celebrate the hard work which young people have put into developing the park for other users.

“It gives them an excellent opportunity to showcase their amazing BMX, skateboarding and inline skating skills.”

The Rozzy Plaza was set up by the local authority to provide a space for young people to develop their skills in a safe environment.

Mr Robinson added: “Our aim is that it will be the first of many such events.”

For those not wanting to compete, there will be other activities and entertainment on the day.

Anyone wishing to compete should enter on the day at a cost of £2 per person, per category.
